The Centre for International Heritage Activities (CIE) is an independent, non-profit organization for international knowledge exchange about the heritage of the European expansion and international heritage cooperation.

The Centre is based in the Netherlands and was established in 2006. Since then many plans have been realized and more have been initiated. Many national and international stakeholders, as well as international governments, have found the CIE and are using its advisory services.

To address the Centre’s mission of furthering international heritage activities effectively, its activities are focused on the following three areas: International Networking, Program Development, and Research. CIE is involved in a number of programs in Sri Lanka, Japan, Australia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Russia, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa and in New York.

Bill Jeffery is contracted as the CIE’e Program Coordinator, Maritime Cultural Heritage and it was considered the project in Hong Kong fitted well within the scope of CIE’s activities and extended them into Asia, and that this association would benefit the Hong Kong project, particularly with possible future activities.
